We manufacture fabric mermaid tails in Tabanan, Bali, for swim schools, mermaid studios, performers, brands and resellers. We also make them for our own academy, which is the part that matters most in everything below.
What we make, and what we do not
Fabric tails. That is the whole product line. We do not make silicone and we will not pretend to, so if silicone is what your programme needs we are the wrong supplier and we would rather say so before you spend time on us.
Wholesale from our existing designs, your own colourways and branding on our patterns, or a design developed to your specification. Which of those you actually need is usually clear within ten minutes of talking, and it is often not the expensive one.
Is a fabric tail safe for a class?
This is the question a school should ask first and almost nobody does, so here is our honest answer.
A mermaid tail is not a toy. It binds the legs together. Anyone wearing one needs to be a competent swimmer, needs supervision in the water, and needs a briefing before the first session. That is true of our tails and of every other tail on the market. At our own academy the minimum age is six and the student has to be able to swim.
The question schools ask next is how someone gets out of it. There is an elastic band at the waist, so the tail comes off the way a skirt does. Pull from the hip and push down. The fabric is flexible enough that this works quickly, and because we build to your measurements it sits close to the body rather than loose, so it is not dragging while it is on.
Within that, fabric changes several things in a school's favour.
A fabric tail is not moulded to one body, so it can be shared across a class and washed between students. A moulded tail cannot be either of those things, which is what rules it out of a teaching fleet before you even reach the price.
It is light, and it packs flat, so a student is not fighting the weight of the equipment while learning the movement.
Every tail we make is repairable, and we repair them. That matters more for safety than it sounds, because the alternative is a school keeping a tail with an opening seam in rotation because replacing it is expensive.
And our own instructors and students are in these tails several times a week at our academy in Jakarta and Bali. Anything that fails, fails on us first.
What we need from you to start
Your references or artwork, your colour direction, sizes and measurements, the monofin you use, and what the tails are actually for. A rental fleet, a competition piece and a shop product are three different briefs and they lead to three different tails.
You approve the design before we produce it. It is built from your vision, your submitted measurements and your confirmed monofin details, and production does not begin until you have signed off on both the design and the specification.
If what you have is a mood board rather than a print ready file, that is normal and often better. A palette and a reference are more useful to us than a file we cannot print.
Who owns the design?
There is more than one arrangement, and which one suits you depends on whether the design is yours, whether you are reselling, and what you need to protect.
Two things are always true. We agree the rights position in writing before any design work starts, so nobody discovers it after they have paid. And we never reproduce a client's design for a competitor.
We also do not license our designs to other tail makers. That is a policy and not a judgement about anyone who asks.
The rest we go through with you directly, because the right answer for a single performer and the right answer for a brand launching a product line are not the same, and a web page cannot tell them apart.
Branding and packaging
Labels, hang tags, care labels, packaging and inserts are all workable. Raise them in the first conversation rather than the last, because they affect both the quote and the production time, and custom packaging in particular can extend a run.
Why the country of manufacture is worth something to you
If you are a premium brand comparing us against a low cost quote, this is worth thinking about before you decide on unit price alone.
You can print that your tails are made in Bali, in a studio that teaches mermaids and outfits performers. That is a sentence your customers will read on the hang tag. The alternative is a sentence most brands work quite hard not to print.
What happens next
We do not publish a price list, because a real quotation depends on what you are ordering, in how many sizes and designs, where it is going and what you need to own. A number pulled off a web page would be wrong in both directions.
So the next step is a conversation. Tell us what you are building, roughly how many tails and sizes you think you need, and when you need them. We will set up a call, ask the questions that actually change the answer, and send you a written quotation for your project.
